Shantiniketan - a school in the traditional Gurukul system founded by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in 1901. Tagore's vision was a world where man will exist in perfect harmony with nature.

There are many places of interest in Shantiniketan such as Land of Rabindra Nath Tagore, Visva Bharti University, Sriniketan, Kankalitala temple, Khoai, Kopai. Nearby excursion points are Bakreswar (58km), Massanjore (75km), Tarapith (88km), Jaidev Kenduli (30km). Holi or Basant-utsav is the most popular festival here, observed with all colours and fervor. Paus (around 23rd December), is another important annual festival of Shantiniketan. Besides, other melas like Barsha Mangal, Halakarshan Utsav, also attract enthusiasts to Shantinekatan.
